SOCIETAL POEM 'WHERE IS THE GOVERNMENT?'

Ah Daddy! I am back!
Ha! Daddy, I am back,

I am back daddy,
Where's my school fees?
What happen to your work?
Mummy, why is daddy quite?
Both of you, -are government workers
My fellow students are learning
Teacher sent me home!
They flogged me several times,
They denied me lesson times,
They couldn't accommodate me, - anymore!
Daddy, where is the government?

Hello, Mr talkative'
Have you not heard,
Fake pastors are pastoring '
Fake ministers are ministering'
Here and there, they toil and tour!
Extorting money from the poor,
Enriching themselves in living
Gracing the rich and powerful men
Yet, nothing good comes out of them!
Hello, Mr talkative,
Where is the government?

Aunty Education,
I heard about scholarships
Fully sponsored by the government...
I went to be a witness,
I was smashed by a full surprise,
It's of the international lands
Not of my nation!
I didn't cry home, I tried weeping'
Aunty education, so you know...
Free education is for the rich,
Scholarship by rich and for the rich!
Oh yes, truth is bitter,
We know about the government schools!
A place where you see rascality in students,
Because teachers are not treated well,
So many rough activities happen...
I ask again, where is the government?

Brother Trade,
How well you've been the people's hope,
A place meant for survival of the fittest,
Brother Trade,
Is it not a shame in the eyes of the...
You build, yet pays tax and duties,
Even with brutal force applied
By their cohorts and messengers,
All in the name of government dues!
Now, your trade centre is burnt,
You're seeking for loan to rebuild
Please, where is the government?

Healthcare, here I come'
All big men fly abroad...
Even my President in Aso Rock Villa,
I do hear them say, "Healthcare budget"
Yet, many states have no hospital
Or is the gods mechanising my hearings?
Please, where is the government?
Hello, General!
The very first citizen of Nigeria,
I'm but word builder,
Who live far away from you!
I was shocked when my television
Displayed Mr Twenty-ten-Twenty'
In blood stains all over,
Our flag turned green red green!
The once white was gone till date
Mr Twenty-ten-Twenty is living on'
In every youths heart,
A history that'd live for decades unknown
His Excellency went ghost,
And the nation was in chaos
An erosion that travelled all states
Yet, the chief General talked not!

Mr President, allow my ink to leak'
In Lagos state, that toll gate,
Was on the blood spree,
But government state leader said...
Bullet was not bullet, what a world!
Behold, SAN WOO OLU
Yet the media says...
"Government is working on it"
Where is the government?

Hi, our state leaders
Yes, you the governors'
That palliatives was marvellous
A thing we only ate in media mouths
And hidden in warehouses,
Ah, the gods aren't sleeping '
We voted you, we supported you
To shield us and work with us;
A democratic person we voted
Is now a brute in politics,
His people turned enemies,
All allocations to your private accounts!
You show us your teeth,
At our back, you sign our death deal'
In all broadcast, we hear thus;
"Citizens should work with the government..."
Oh wait, Mr Governor!
Where is the government?

The great bard laments over the bad governance in Nigeria and tourches wide aspects like education, health, sincerity and other sundries. He demands for the intervention of good leadership upon the Nigerian soil.
