POETRY OF CONSCIOUSNESS_ 'CAN I HEAR YOU SAY E CHOKE?' BY JAHISMINE.

The race to face hell has finally reached the peak,
where the masses can no longer afford to buy peak milk,
and water becomes too expensive to go down our gullets anyhow -
We either drink when we're really thirsty
or save for the next thirst time
because we're afraid to drink the last drop in our kegs.
Can I hear you say E CHOKE?

Yes, E CHOKE ooooo...
The price of fuel climbed the ladder suddenly overnight,
to a place where our hands no longer reach,
buying an energy drink + a trek
has trekked into our list of surviving options,
and a far distance has become nearer.
Can I hear you say E CHOKE?
Abi E no choke ni?
The grass isn't greener on the other side anymore,
even Adekunle Gold in the hand of Simisola,
no longer worth same price he bought it back then.
Had it been we knew that the green grass we were searching for,
was hidden behind the pale yellow grass we failed to water well.
Can I hear you say E CHOKE?

The Govt has sown us dresses that choke our necks,
and they included for us a choking necklace;
So the winner of this painful fashion contest is who can cry most,
and the grand winner is who succumbs to depression and commit suicide.
Can I hear you say E CHOKE?_

This choking choke by these choking chokers,
has choked even our choking voice,
we are no longer screaming, we now moan silently
as they fuck us up loudly.
Can I hear you say E CHOKE?

JAHISMINE
(THEBARDBOY).

The poet personae laments over the economic depression in Nigeria and explains how everyone feels uncomfortable.
