ANTHOLOGY OF ROMANTICISM BY MUTWIRI(KENYA)
I found her words
to be unexpected,
we were friends,
after all but then...
She said
I love you
and the colours of my world
changed along
with those dreams I called
Tomorrow.
2
Poems make things
more real for me.
Finding hope in loss,
creating beauty
painted in words
or seeing the pain.
Dark gods of need,
prowling, preying
I'm God's child with a
blackened, frightened eyes,
but I feel love, I do
and it scares me
that I can see
so little sometimes.
3
He never found it easy,
searching for the silver lining,
not after the tears
of his yesterdays,
but he still believed
it was out there,
somewhere...
Only because
he met you
4.
I am lost
in the sea of her
essence drowning,
as wave after wave
of her passion
washes over me,
and for a moment.
I welcome dying,
knowing,
I'll live again
once I am consumed.
5
Her hands
Cup my face
Holding it
Just still enough
That I become
Nothing more
Than a frozen
Mannequin
Waiting for her
Kiss of life
Before I dare stir
6
Dance of sinners,
crimes of passion
committed after dark.
Two or more,
tangled in throes
of skin on skin.
No thoughts
of consequences,
only feelings
of ecstacy's debauchery.
7
He had a penchant
for running his fingers
through her hair,
as if it were
stroking.
The very edges
of her soul,
that part of her
that sets fire
to his spirit
andd offers the lesson
of desire
to his soul.
8
I would make a wish,
that every coming morning
I would find her again
but whenever the sun goes down
without the promise of her...
I would be left with her echo
Singing to an empty heart.
MUTWIRI NJUE.
