JEREMIAD: 'TIRED OF STARVING' BY STRIDA.
AJAKAYE:
The anwu(sun) has become so costly for the ozone layer misses it,
the taste of garri has the bitterness of cost,
uwa(earth) isn't too nice upon
prices of onions.
Even those of granite stones sizes are purchased 200 Naira...
The soul of Nigeria is a mountain too high.
Chai !
OLUMIDE:
Every stall bleeds expensiveness,
as though uwa refused to give forth its rights,
those eyes you see
across the streets...
Calling them dying should be a way to cover their withering tongues.
ISHOLA:
The gods must be angry to see we are staving,
I visioned tomorrow and see no Victory,
my inimum wage cant fetch me Rice
and vehicular expenses is sulking my son.
Teach me to survive with the price hike at all Business.
Small scale and large scale I feel no difference,
sorry to be rude just trying to speak Louder,
Voice from the Voiceless.
ENIOLA:
Commodity clowned cash in the nearby market,
I was drenched with shame,
my cash no more counts.
Ewedu is now a king,
egusi teases my wallet
but the tongue is tiptoeing,
To take the relish from crayfish,
but the purchasing power
is superior than the chef.
DAVIES:
We are leaders of tommorow,
the promising words that failed !
We are killed and buried before the future.
The government bury our light, so out glory don't shine,
impregnating the air with blood shed,
all because we are fighting for our rights!
Poisoned our minds,
with sorrowful truth,
what has Jubril has to do with the seat meant for Buhari?
They inflated prices on commodities,
just to measure the length of our survival.
This country is not balance , so is life!
ZENITH:
It's sorrowful,
as men reap the fruit of sorrow,
after sowing their seeds with tears and sweat.
Men wailing in agony,
women struggling with backache,
just to put a meal on their table.
What is the essence of the long que on election day?
When all we get is bitterness.
ADEGUN:
For fortnight,
I swallowed my saliva as water,
would you rather I die of thirstiness?
For fortnight,
I fed on peanuts as food,
would you rather I die of hunger?
I'm Starving!
No one is willing,
would you rather I steal from the populace?
What more can I say?
No one Understands my Starve-language!
I speak the language of Hunger but no one understands it,
is Starving a stigma?
Maybe or maybe not,
Will I live with this Stigma for the rest of my life?
PROMINENT POET:
we are the futures of tomorrow,
we are the leaders of tomorrow,
the biggest lie we are tired of hearing everytime
is when is that tomorrow ?
Is it when white hairs would use our skull as abode,
who will rescue this orphan country?
we must not die of starving .
