JEREMIAD: 'MOTHER EARTH ACHES' BY SALONI CHAWLA
(A poem on 9/11 attack in America)
When planes cease to respect the heights of the skies,
and pierce into nests
amidst shrieks and sighs;
When mirrors of sight
turn upside down,
and villains of peace are
allowed to reign the crown;
When fame and money
weigh more than lives,
and rules are monitored
by rupees and knives;
When independence connotes violation of conduct,
and skysraping goals
amidst winds corrupt;
When innocent ants get crushed when bulls and elephants fight,
and Apostles of peace,
in vain, cry their might;
When every news bulletin carries tears and bloodshed,
and the autumn rain drops count less than drops of hatred;
When blood thirsts for blood, draped in different attires of religion,
and mother earth aches, for, it has no step daughter or son;
I lean aside
and ponder a while -
Was this the seed that our
ancestors had sown in our soil ?
The plans they had architectured selflessly night and day :
Where, when and how
have they gone astray !!!!!!
SALONI CHAWLA
...composed on the 9/11 attack on America
The poet persona laments over the spill of blood and innocence over the chase of fame. The bards also questions if war is what the ancestors of the involved land really desire.
Awesome 👍
