DIDACTIC: "THE BOY ON THE RAPIDS" BY LUQMON OLAMIDE

It was about 50 miles from Jebba.
When the boy arrived at the Bussau rapids,
Strangely, he was welcomed by the river.

The twin horses were asleep with fatigue.
The confused eagle pointing his gape to the East.

The boy pictures a Royal Mail ship traveling,
To transport the passengers across.
The voyage was fun until a storm surge occurred suddenly.

The captain couldn’t batten down the hatches.
Rather, he asked the deckhands for more sauce.
The boy remained standing on the rapids.
He was watching as the ship was scuttling.
Only a brave captain could sail the ship.
