FIGHT FOR THE CHURCH- BY PASTOR ELKAN

_“Upon this rock I will build my church.”_ – Mat 16:18.

The Bible documents three human institutions today that were nonetheless inaugurated by God. They are Marriage, Government and the Church. All three institutions serve a purpose in bringing about God’s will and God’s kingdom on Earth. The Devil knows this, and has fought against all three throughout history.

However, since these institutions have proven themselves to be too deep-rooted to be annihilated, the recent attack approach of choice is to either expunge them from all connections to their source or dilute them by expanding their boundaries and purposes.

We see this attack in Government today with the conveniently misinterpreted and misapplied philosophy of _“Separation of Church and State;”_ and we see it in Marriage with the expansion of the definition of marriage in the name of inclusivity.

This push for inclusivity is also the approach being used on the Church today. Having spent decades villainising the church and causing young people to stay away from it, the world is now insisting on the church opening wide its doors to _accept_ ALL who would want to come in.

The result of this is the emphasis in the media of declining attendance to traditional churches, but highlighting and promoting of so-called “inclusive” or “affirming” churches. The reason is simple: since the church has refused to die a natural death from the barrage of attacks from the outside, it will now be attacked from the inside by guilt-tripping it to accept all persons into all levels of leadership and then watering down its standard.

This is why we need to fight for the Church. We must fight for its ideals, fight for its purpose, and fight for its unique identity.

Just as we would not join strangers to attack our family, we must not join the world in attacking the church when we hear of one scandal or the other. Don’t forget, the offence may be legitimate – financial impropriety, sexual misconduct, power overreach, etc. But we must make a distinction between the offender and the institution.

The church of Jesus Christ is the only visible representation of God on Earth, and is the only sanctioned source of truth and salvation for the world today (1Ti 3:15). No person inspired by the Holy Spirit will tell you that God is no longer in the Church or that Believers should stop attending Church.

Let’s do what we can to build the Church up, starting from our immediate local assemblies, and then the universal Church.

AMEN
More Blessings await you today; you’ll not miss them in Jesus’ Name.
