GOD, GOVERNMENT, AND THE SPIRIT OF THIS AGE- BY PASTOR GREG ELKAN
_“Let all things be done decently and in order.”_ – 1Co 14:40.
What does the Bible have to say about human government? And more specifically, how can a 21st century Believer view and deal with government and government policies now that the godlessness, corruption and extreme partisanship in our governments are finally revealing to us the limits of the once-hallowed principle of democracy?
Of the three institutions given to humanity by God – Marriage, Government, and the Church – government is the least God-looking. But all three institutions were inaugurated by God for a reason: to bring about His will and replicate His kingdom on Earth.
As established in our previous series on the Church, all three God-given institutions have been hijacked, tainted and corrupted by our sinful humanness. But because government today is the most divorced from God among the three institutions, it is admittedly difficult to see it as an agent of the Creator.
Nevertheless, Government – even the worst of it – _IS_ God’s idea. Just like with the other institutions of the Church and Marriage, the Devil only hijacks and corrupts. And just as we strive not to give up on God’s ideal of marriage, and God’s vision of the Church, we must also – as Believers – not lose sight of the purpose, place and power of Government in the Divine order of things.
AMEN...
More Blessings await you today; you’ll not miss them in Jesus’ Name.
