GOD'S ORDER IN THE HOME- BY PASTOR GREG ELKAN

_“Let all things be done decently and in order.”_ – 1Co 14:40.

God is a God of order and God expects His children to replicate, and advocate for that order. Sadly however, we have raised an emerging generation of Christians today who have little value for divine order.

Taking cue from the prevailing godless, iconoclastic ideology of this world, they have come to assume that literally _everything_ is up to be questioned and challenged; even things clearly stated in scripture.

One major area of divine order than many seek to dismantle today is headship of the home. Paul in Eph 5:22-33 asks wives to submit unto their own husbands, _“as unto the Lord”_ and husbands to love their wives _“as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it.”_

As explained previously, marriage is not a human innovation; marriage was instituted by God to illustrate the relationship of Christ and the Church; and in that picture story, the husband represents Christ and the wife represents the church. Thus, as Paul writes, _“the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church… Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.”_

Some "progressive" Christians today claim headship of the home should be based on capacity; so that if the wife is better educated, or more exposed, or financially more capable, then she should assume headship. Others may not be so extreme but still insist on a supposed "co-headship" of the home.

These positions, sadly, come more from human philosophy than scripture.

While we do not deny that unbelieving and patriarchal men have abused God's ideal order; the solution to the problem cannot be the upending of God's system (and thus God's narrative) but to address the misapplication.
