"IN THE EXAMINATION HALL" BY AMEEDAT SALIS
Examination is like a black market
Where you don’t know what to get until you’re there
Examination hall is like a dark room
Where you pretend to be blind
Blind not to see your neighbour
Invigilators are the ghosts
They appear and disappear
They are privileged to see us and anything around but
You dare not or cannot see them
Students are seen as a criminal
Dragged to the dark room to confess their crimes in paper
the battling mirrors in the examination hall.

The poet persona speaks about the unusual quietness of students and sharp eyes of invigilators while students are expected to produce all they have been taught independently.
