JEREMIAD: "SONNET OF HURT" BY LASISI VICTOR
You were always in my heart
Distance could not set us apart;
But you drifted off as if it never existed.
It's always hurting and hunting me.
Remember you touched my
soul with your black naked fingers-
They left deep scars in my veins.
I hope you will one day realize:
How much all these means,
How much you've costed someone,
How bad you hurt someone,
How someone forgave you with tears
Without you even knowing...
So far away, I hope you would recollect.

The poet personae seems to long for the love he imagines to have. The voice of the poem seems to be betrayed by never meeting anyone yet.
