SAKEENAH'WRITES WRITING NUGGETS 002: STOP ABBREVIATING YOUR WORDS
Abbreviation is the disease that slowly kills your English vocabulary as a writer. Another great lesson I learnt as a writer, is that, wrong, incessant and unnecessary abbreviation of words does not only kill your fluency and eloquence as an English writer, but it also kills your ability to speak and write good English.
Yes, because the moment you get too used to abbreviating your words, even when you have adequate knowledge of English, spelling and pronouncing words correctly will automatically become difficult.
So, if you want to be a great write, be it as a professional or newbie, then DO AWAY WITH UNNECESSARILY ABBREVIATING OR SHORTENING YOUR WORDS, especially when they are not generally acceptable form of abbreviations that can be found in the dictionary.
I mean what is the meaning of "U" instead of "YOU," or you are writing "gud, should, cum, nd, pls," instead of the words in full. Oh God, please stop it, they are annoying.
