PHONE CALL NUGGETS 002- BY SAKEEENAH'WRITES

In a world where PHONES, be it android or button phones, have become a major tool for kidnappers to carry out their heinous crimes, a world where mere speaking to someone on the phone can lead to loss of memory or even long-term destruction and in a world where many have gone missing(kidnapped or hypnotized) as a result of picking calls from strange numbers,

IT IS UNAPOLOGETICALLY OKAY NOT TO PICK CALLS FROM STRANGE NUMBERS, AND TO BE EXTRA CAREFUL WHEN SPEAKING TO STRANGERS ON THE PHONE. BUT IT IS TOTALLY IMPROPER TO SPEAK RUDELY OR SOUND TOO INFORMAL TO SOMEONE YOU DON'T KNOW.

When a strange number calls you, if you don't want to pick the call, don't pick it, but the moment you are picking that call, or you are calling the strange number whose call you missed, PLEASE do not start the conversation with statements like, "wassup, who's speaking? Hello, what happen! Hello, yes, what is it? Abeg who be this? Hello, who are you? Who dey talk abeg? or you jump straight to ask annoying questions like, "how may I help you, what can I do for you?" Puff! NO GREETINGS, NOTHING!

I mean, what help exactly can you offer to someone you don't know! What makes you think you can help that person, or who told you that the person is calling you to seek your help on something. What if the person is a long time ago friend that wants to say "HI." What if it's the person calling you that wants to help you, or it's money the person wants to give you, and you are now saying, "Abeg who be this, or how can I help you?" Lord, that's how you will miss better thing. I don't know about other people, but if it's me you spoke to in that manner, YOU WILL LOSE both MY TIME AND THE MONEY. I don't like rubbish!

Frankly speaking, some of us really need to learn communication skills. Dear people, when you miss a call from a strange number that DOESN'T LOOK SUSPICIOUS, please call the number and start by saying, "Good day, good morning/afternoon/evening. I'm sorry, I missed your call. Please, who am I speaking with?" SIMPLE, STRAIGHTFORWARD AND POLITE!

With this unique and polite way of speaking, the person you are speaking with will be pleased with you, because your first impression was impressive. Infact, someone who was probably boiling in fury before calling you will be compelled to calm down.
