SONNET: "GRAVEYARD" BY LASISI VICTOR
This world,
None would leave alive;
Alive in itself alive without dead -
Who have been alive a long time ago?
Dug deep is thy deepest dust.
An empty wine-skinned-hand beside a grave
One for the man who held grip-tight
the world,
Another for the one
Who finds solace in feeding flower to the non-living.
Alive in himself, alive without dead;
One who have been deadly alive
a long time ago.

The poet persona gives that no man will leave the world with a full spirit for death is a gradual process that does not come instantly. Those who would die satisfactorily are those who remember the dead while they are alive.
