DIDACTIC: "IS SHE OK?" BY MALIVS

You are always carrying a bottle on your hands.
You are always holding something with your fingers.
You are always on your so called high level.
Is she ok?.

Is everything back home ok?.
Is the stove always hot?
Does the table receive something every meal time.
l wonder,
ls she ok?.

Is she happy back there.
Is her stomach happy back there.
ls she having a balanced diet or
she's having the most common food in Zimbabwe.
Muriwo nemapotatoes!
Ohhh , l wonder.
ls she ok?.

You always make sure someone else's daughter is happy.
Forgetting, you are someone's daughter too.
Who needs to be made happy too.
Whom you need to make sure she's ok.
But l am here asking you,
"Is she ok?"

You always change for the latest fashion.
But she's still wearing that same shoe which here husband bought years ago when he was alive.
Now she doesn't have a purpose to live.
Do you ever ask your self.
ls she ok?.
No, l don't think so.

She suffered for nine months.
Sometimes eating things she did not like.
Just for you.
But now she doesn't have something to eat.
But you are there.
Partying the whole night.
And you don't even think lf she's ok.
Please remember her.
And go check if she's OK.

The poet persona warns that successful children should take appropriate care of their mothers. The voice askes a rhetorical question repeatedly on if the mother of a daughter is satisfied, even with the wealth of her offspring. Afterwards, the bard answers, "No, I don't think so".
