DIDACTIC: "NO TRUE LOVE FOR A BROKE MAN" BY YUSHAB ABOLORE
No true love for a broke man,
They say he's not worth a dime,
His heart may be pure and kind,
But his pockets are empty all the time.
In Africa, where cowries once ruled,
And wealth was in precious gold,
The value of a man was measured,
By the riches he could always hold.
But true love knows no boundaries,
It doesn't seek fame or wealth,
It's a bond that's unbreakable,
And more valuable than any material wealth.
In African lands, where poverty spread,
A lesson young men must learn to tread,
For there's no true love for a broke man,
No affection, just fickle desire's span.
The society expectations beat down on men roads,
Where men toil hard with heavy loads,
They dream of love's sweet embrace,
But they must first succeed in life's race.
No damsel's heart will ever be won,
By a man with naught but an empty pun,
Who idles away his days in sloth,
And waits for true love's gift in swath.
Make success your only salvation's poles,
For then will you win love's pure affection,
And not just a fleeting, vain connection.
The ladies see a man with drive,
And in his burning passion thrive,
They'll flock to him in admiration,
And true love will find its destination.
So, do not idle, nor bemoan,
But strive to make your passions known,
And build a life that's strong and true,
And love will surely come to you

The poet persona declares that men who are not financially upright cannot have a true loving woman. Thus, men need to focus on their personal prosperity before thinking of marriage settlements.
