HOPE POEM: "STAY STRONG, SON" BY MATYR
My son, my son,
I hate to see you sad,
I hate to see you shade tears,
I don't like it when you're hurt.
I know you miss my presence,
My morning and evening tea,
I know you miss that mother son bond,
But, Why are you becoming a crying baby?
I think I taught you everything,
How to tackle every situation,
How to live without me,
Coz I knew, one day I'll leave.
I gave the world a man not a boy,
Son, I gave birth to a hero,
I raised a lion, king of the jungle,
Not a weak man you're becoming
Breath in and out then relax,
Gather courage and believe you can,
Never give up, I always told you,
Son, Stay strong and face the reality,
You're not going to die in the battlefield.

The poet persona speaks with the voice of a dead woman who addresses her son who still lives on earth. Hence, she tells him she believes he is strong and has a beautiful future. Thus, he should not be shaken by challenges in life.
