IGNORING THE BARKING DOGS OF LIFE- BY ISLAMIYYA OLADOKUN

Earlier today I saw an average dog, barking intensely. If there was another route to get to my hostel, I'd surely turn my back.

When I got closer to the barking dog, I realized it was barking at a bigger dog. The latter was only 'cruising' around, not minding the barking dog.

This little interaction reminded me of humans. When humans see their kind as a threat, they behave exactly like the barking dog.

Particularly, when the so-called threat is progressing deen-wise, you'll hear something along the line of; "am I not a Muslim too? Does her dress has to be so loose? Why should he be jumping his trousers?"

Just like the bigger dog did, do your thing without minding them. They'll end up hurting. 

They need someone who can feed their ego, and you'll be doing just that when you give them attention. 

Do your thing! 

You don't need their opinion! 

Remember why you started!
