JEREMIAD: "MY BURDEN" BY KARIM

If I don't make it home,
Remember it wasn't because I didn't try,
If things seem not working for me,
Don't ever think I never try my best.

I was born and raised in a deprived family,
Where farming is the only source for a living,
Trying so hard to break free from the odds,
Odds of poor living conditions,
Atmosphere which shattered ambitions.

A young boy playing games of war,
Battling with dissatisfied and Happy humans,
Whenever they see me lolling around, sunning myself and playing hopscotch all day,
They hated and would think to themselves, "that is such bullshit!
I want to have fun and enjoy life too!"
They're always after my downfall.

Why will you hate the heart that holds too much burden?
Why will you hate me, trying my best to make it to home?
Or was it funny to see me struggling to survive?
Do you really enjoy my pain?
Remember not to laugh, if I don't make it home!
For you were the reason I became this way.

The poet persona seems to be tired of the environmental negativities that walk against his efforts to be successful. Hence, he concludes that no man should blame him if he does not make success.
