JEREMIAD: "WHY MOTHER?" BY MATYR
Not here to remind you of your past,
I'm not here to make you cry,
Yeah, I'm not here to make you regret.
But mom, did I not deserve life?
Tell me, did I not deserve to live?
Talk to me, was I not from your blood?
Why did you kill me, Momma?
Because of me you hate Daddy,
But mom, it was your fault,
You and I know that sad truth,
You killed me Mom, it was you.
Daddy always wanted me to live,
Dad pleaded with you to keep me,
I heard dad begging you to let me live,
But you...You...You aborted me mom.
Mother, I know I came too early,
You still wanted to enjoy your youth,
I was not coming to kill your joy,
But to make your days so true.
Now look, I'm hurting and bleeding,
Why did you do this to me, why mom?
You deserve no peace mother,
But, lemme go, Karma will pay for me.

The poet persona blames her mother for not letting her live. The voice is aware that her father never wanted her to be aborted but her mother did it. The speaker is sad about not experiencing life.
