"FEAR OF GROWING OLD" BY LIKAY
Today I drove past a truck,
Advertising memory care,
In a flash, my heart was struck,
By arrows assembled from fear.
I started to ask myself,
What it is I'm doing here,
I should put my past on a shelf,
Let it collect dust for years.
I had more questions throughout the day,
Like when will I start to live my life,
And would I really be okay,
With the way I lived after I've died?
And one that everyone should contemplate,
So to not lead a life that is contrary,
To what they are able to consummate.
Don't want another second,
As this life is unfair,
Mindfulness of the present,
Future's an indefinite prayer.
You've heard this before,
But still rings true,
Life is too short,
So live enough life for two.

The poet persona confesses the fear of becoming old and not being able to meet dreams. Hence, life is to short and old age is never too far as we imagine it to be.
