"CIAO" BY OJIJI
Goodbye is not a sweet song, yet melodious,
Like the firmness of a toddler's grip, yet harmless,
Like the kiss of the finger and strings, a lingering sound.
Goodbye is the lightning before thunder, yet fierce,
The stillness of the sea, yet deep and dark.
Goodbye is a hot metal sinking in water, sizzling bitterly,
The calmness after the rain, gentle yet cold,
The farewell of the wind, whose whispers pierce.
It's the touch of cold, cool yet freezing.
The last breeze of wind, the last leaf falling, drifting slow,
The last grip of the mind, the last kiss,
The quietness after a long embrace,
The last glance, the steel stairs,
The silent pain we sadly conceal.
Goodbye is the day leaving for the dawn,
A concluded chapter, yet stories remain,
The smile that conceals the pending tears,
The silent ache that softly pains.
It's the evening sun's glow, far yet near,
Stars in the distant sky that blink goodbye,
The final note of a lingering lullaby,
The last sigh of a dying man, a soft bye.

The poet persona says the intrinsic positive means of the term, "goodbye". It may mean the ease of pain, a pause for a better beginning, a lullaby for the night and other sundries.
