JEREMIAD: "MIRAGES OF DEMISE" BY SAVANNAH INKS

I fear the surging mob,
Tearing through railings like manic floodgates,
Thumping war drums amidst hateful clamor,
Venomous cries bay for blood.

I fear them, blinkered morons,
Deceived by mirages in desolate lands,
Craving power, they kill with impunity,
Hypnotized by pain's dark illusions.

With sadistic passion, they howl,
Killing over trivialities,and fabricated charges,
Grinning at screams of unfortunates skinned alive,
To satiate an ego of distorted dreams.

I fear the charging biased bulls,
Incensed by gaunt, shirtless matadors,
In death rings reeking of unshed blood,
Like trapped prey in foul, labyrinthine lairs.

Where dry bones clink mournful eulogies,
I fear the grey, turgid cumulonimbus,
Ferociously charging from conquered horizons,
Tantalizing with a judgmental sweep.

Annihilating plains to raging seas,
Like a river choking in hyacinth's grasp,
Strenuously gasping for fleeting life,
Gurgling wheezes of final, hopeless gulps.

In fading light, a hold unsustainable,
Like cannon fodder, they were mercilessly cut down,
Angels of hope on chilly, barren terrains,
Their quest to revive an extinguishing dream.

Cut short by uranium-coated bullets,
I heard stern reprisals, wise elders castigated,
For singing peace's gentle song, pitied and mocked,
For feminine conduct, lest they taint the prestine flock.
