HARVEST 1- BY GREG ELKAN
_While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.”_ – Gen 8:22.
The principle of seeds and harvests are ingrained into the fabric of life (Gen 8:22). Because there will always be seeds, and there will always be harvests from those seeds. Because there will always be actions, there will always be repercussions – consequences, aftermaths – of those actions
The consequences of our actions (and inactions) can be immediate and temporary; but other times they can be delayed, and their effect last so long that they even outlive us.
One example of the second type of harvest is in our relationship with people.
We need to understand that everything we do to a person goes in as a seed. And those seeds will eventually yield harvests.
Relationships, like gardens, require cultivation; if tended well, they will bear good fruits; but if neglected, they will only produce thorns and thistles.
The relationship between David and Jonathan stands out in Scripture. David said in 2 Samuel 9:1, _“Is there still anyone who is left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”_
Even years after Jonathan’s death, David still sought to show kindness to any descendant of Saul, his lifelong enemy, because of the actions of Jonathan, his lifelong friend.
Jonathan’s relationship with David continued to yield dividends even after Jonathan’s death. Beloved, are you cultivating and investing in relationships that could benefit you in the future?
AMEN.
With God, it keeps getting better.
