During an interview with BigBoyTV in the US, Tems was asked about her rise to fame, and she credited Wizkid for inspiring her to take her music career more seriously.

“Before meeting Wizkid, I was just a regular girl who loved being in the studio. I was passionate about singing but didn’t imagine my music could make me this rich and popular. In 2019, I met Wizkid, and we recorded Essence. When it dropped, the attention I started getting was overwhelming. Wizkid introduced me to Beyoncé, and soon after, I began winning awards and connecting with artists like Drake. The rest is history.”
